Font?

Image
Hello everybody!!! Today, we are going to do something simple, yet somehow very important. Today, we are going to choose which font we might use for our magazine's project. So, let's begin.  First, what are the candidates we have?  As you can see, I've selected many fonts that could be used for my magazine.  It was hard to choose for my perfectionist attitude, But after a long debate between me, and... me? I have decided (or at least plan to) use the font Bodoni MT Condensed for my title since I think the joyfully, playfully and creative looks it's got would definitely match the conceptual idea of sharing pictures along with their creator's thoughts, tips, along with the visuals that they might be willing to share as if it were to be an interview. Furthermore, just as a side note, I am definitely considering Times New Roman as the candidate to be used for any of the prints that are to follow any paragraphs, etc.

The Preliminaries Begin - Start

Image
The Preliminaries Begin Hi everyone!!! Today, we are going to start practicing the process of creating our magazine... or at least try to. So, let's begin with our cover. This is the cover that I created and styled a couple of weeks ago and, to be honest, I do not really like it So, today, I will attempt to create a new cover based on this cover's style for the preliminary work that I will be working on in my following blog posts. But first, let me tell you about this cover's style and visuals. For the Style, I went for something simple, I wanted the title to stand the most hence my magazine will need recognition from any possible audience. The title is based on the idea that the pictures shown within the magazine are going to be something that represents someone's attributes, personality, and or even beliefs regardless of its style as I plan for this magazine to be a place of free-judgment. Its background is a picture of printed pictures that I attempted for it to conv

Inspiration? Peter McKinnon

Image
Hello everybody! Today, I am going to tell you a little bit of Peter Mckinnon and the reason for this is because he is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to photography and it is, therefore, one of the reasons I am doing this photography magazine, so, let us start with the basics; Peter McKinnon  (born: October 28, 1985  [age 35] ) is a Canadian  YouTuber , photographer, filmmaker, and vlogger. He is most known for his filmmaking and photography tutorials mainly using Adobe Premiere Pro or Adobe Lightroom.  His 'biography';  Peter McKinnon was born on October 28, 1985, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He joined YouTube on February 15, 2010, and uploaded his first video, a vlog in which he visits the popular Kensington Market district of Toronto, on September 23, 2015. He has uploaded numerous short films and tutorials. He began his "Filmmaker Reacts!" series in 2019. So, why is this here?  The reason for this blog's content is to show the different types of

Best Photography Magazine

Aperture Aperture is a not-for-profit foundation, it connects the photo community and its audiences with the most inspiring work, the sharpest ideas, and with each other—in print, in person, and online. Created in 1952 by photographers and writers as “common ground for the advancement of photography,” Aperture today is a multiplatform publisher and community, engaged with photography as a language of ideas and committed to the medium’s contributions to the urgent issues in society and contemporary culture. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of our strategic thinking, and reflected in the selection of artists and writers that we publish, the engagement programs we present, and our ongoing work to diversify our board and staff. From their base in New York City, each year, they produce and present: four issues of  Aperture , the magazine of photography and ideas over a dozen new  photobooks  and books about photography, both by artists and about the medium new photography

More About Audience?

Image
The target audience for my magazine is around 18-60 years old, and my magazine does not apply to a particular gender. It applies to people from all over the world, but mostly, to people in first-world countries who have access to any modern cameras. The magazine applies to no income levels. These people are at least high school students or high school graduates, and there are many college graduates in the mix as well. Of course, my target audience must be interested in photography, which is what my magazine revolved around. So, for today, I will do a comparison between Digital Photo Magazine (DPM)' s target audience and my (future) magazine's target audience.   So, a magazine that has a similar target audience is  Digital Photo Magazine  ( DPM ). For one, both of our audiences are photographers, which is the main attribute that readers of  DPM  and  Technique  should possess.  Digital Photo Magazine  is aimed towards adults who are able to purchase a DSLR camera, which matche

Distribution

Image
Hi guys, for today's blog post, I am going to talk, very briefly, about the distribution of magazines. To keep it simple, I am going to do it on beauty magazines since they are the most known magazines. So... let's begin.   Distribution, m ost of the beauty/fashion magazines sold are through print subscription services. Although there are still millions of magazines sold through online purchases (downloading on a tablet) and non-subscription purchases (like buying a magazine in a grocery store), the leading circulation of the magazine is because of consumers receiving the magazine in the mail through a subscription. In fact, Harper’s Bazaar Magazine’s distribution in 2013 was 81. 2% because of paid and verified subscriptions (with 78.3% being in print format) and 16.8% from single-copy sales. I acquired this information from a really useful slideshow about genre and representations in fashion magazines. This presentation was so handy in providing me statistics about fashion ma

Who Would My Audience Be?

Image
Who Would My Audience Be?  Hello people!! I am currently stressing out with these blog posts and the rest of my homework but... here we go. In today's blog, I will discuss who would my audience be? To begin with, what is an audience? And who should my audience be? An audience is a group of people who participate in a show or encounter a work of art, literature, theatre, music, video games, or academics in any medium. Such an audience can vary along with specific schemes that focus on different sections of public interests. The public interest I am aiming for is whoever possesses an interest in photography. Specifically, but not limited to... nature/landscape photography and anybody interested in having an interest in diving into the photographer's thoughts before and after taking their pictures along their tips and hacks. The reason for this is because nature/landscape photography is the type of picture I love to take (as you might have figured already from the photos I have i

Survey

Image
Hello homo sapiens!!! Here, your leader at the talk, today, I am glad to announce to you all that I have created a medium with which I attempt to gather the information that could help me create my beautiful treasure called... Your Photo, Your Style (probably).  The medium I have created is a google survey, hence I am aware of the wide usage that you all give to such a platform, I decided to make it easy for all of us. Easy for me since it is easy to gather the information using it, and easy for you... the one that completes the survey.  Anywho... with no further delay, here it is;  AICE Media Studies Magazine , I hope you all take your time to complete it. I will be really thankful for your cooperation.  Just to let you know, the survey looks like this.

Women and Media Representation

Image
Hi, my fellow... fellow? Sorry, I meant.. humans, yes, that. Humans!!! I hope you all are having a great day. Again, thank you for passing by. In today's blog, we are going to dive into some ways in which women are represented in media. How media sources showcase them as immaculate beings with no flaws and cater them towards beauty enhancements along with diets for better shape, etc.  Women in media are, most of the time, shown with perfect profiles, flawless skin, perfect curves, and shocking stylish attires. or in the opposite case, with little, to almost no attires, taking advantage of their hard-to-believe body shapes. Not just that, but because women are understood as beauty lovers, the majority of the media catered for them attempts to be aesthetically pleasing. Having, nice, soft, or contrasting colors with unharmful things on its visuals. On the other hand, women in media are usually represented and alluded to by the usage of kitchen utensils and home decorations along wi

Ethnic Audience Standards

Image
Hello!!!!... humans. I... hope? For you all to be well and healthy. Today is an important day since it is nothing more than 11/11. so, please, make a wish (if you know, you know). Ok, now to the real deal. Today, we are going to briefly discuss how ethnic groups and media correlate  with each other.   Media attempts to cater  to as many people as possible or in the opposite scenario, it aims to a very specific or somehow specific audience. Such specifications can have a wide variety such as; age, nationality, interest, genre (prepare to talk about this one on my next blog), and of course... ethnicity. Racial and ethnic minorities may be represented only seldom in mainstream media, and when they are represented, they may be portrayed along narrow lines that reflect the stereotypes and prejudices of the dominant group. Stereotypes are used to prejudge members of that group rather than to evaluate them on their individual characteristics. Prejudice may often be used to promote a hostile s

General Representation in the Media

Image
Hi everybody!!! I hope you all are having a great day. I am glad you are still around here. Today, we are going to dive into the broad idea of "General Representation in the Media".  To begin with, what do we refer to when we say "in the media"?  To make it simple, they are the main source of mass communication which could include; broadcasting, publishing, and the internet, etc. regarded collectively. It is through these sources that the people of our and previous generations have and had been able to communicate anything of their interest. And so, the people started to use these sources in order to entertain the public, which did then... became a source of income.    With this idea of providing entertainment for people in order to create an income, the publishers had to start the idea of whom they would be representing in order to generate interest from their public. And so that's when media representation comes in.   Media representations are the ways in whi

Content Load

Image
Content Load Hi everyone, in today's blog, since I'd like to keep it short, I will do a  quick resume of what content I plan to adhere to my magazine. That being said... let's begin.  First of all, my magazine. What is my magazine going to be about? It is based on the idea of at least starting to develop a photography magazine like Aperture, Outdoor Photographer, or Shutter, really excites me. So, for now, I will pretend as if doing a photography magazine is set in stone for me.   And with that same stone, I will build my house style starting from its base. It will have to obviously be based on an adventurous or joyful genre, able to entertain and catch the eyes of the neighbors. It will have to have a wide variety of topics going from portraits, landscapes, minimalistic, abstract, angle views, panoramic, etc. In the end, it will have anything that a photography lover would enjoy to see in order to get inspiration for their own photos or just for pure entertainment.  To ke

Aim of Magazine

Image
Aim of Magazine Hello humans! I am glad we get to meet each other again, I mean... I am glad we got to meet each other since I do not know you because I am from outer space. Now, let's focus on today's topic, the aims of my magazine... As stated, it will be "My Magazine, My Content" and with this, I don't mean to be completely new on everything I make since it is just impossible to do for any human being. What I mean by it, is that my magazine will have all the discussed traits in my previous post "My House Style = My Magazine" arranged, based, and made by me or contributors (meaning donated pictures) but, it will be highly inspired by the setup that "Outdoor Photographer" magazine has.  The photography magazine that I envision has to be a splash of feelings, messages, entertainment, or all of them together when it is opened. I want it to convey something to the audience, to connect with them, to engage them into reading/visualize it every tim

Proposal Form

Image
Proposal Form  Hi everyone!!! I am glad to see you around once again. In today's blog, I am going to share with you some basic information about the process I went through when submitting my proposal form to Cambridge for my Magazine project.  So, to begin with, I will show you the images of the end product...  To be brief, the proposal form included my information, a vague idea of the Magazine's concept I want to develop along with a possible name for it as the aims and objectives I plan to achieve at the end of such project. While doing such proposal, I had to fix some information more than once as it requires very specific and detailed information that can not be, by any mean, wrong.
